The Beatles Story support Macmillan Cancer Support

4th November, 2013

Here at the Beatles Story we've been supporting Macmillan Cancer Support in every way we could over the past few months. Traditionally we've supported charities such as the White Feather Foundation and the Linda McCartney Centre but this year we felt that it was appropriate to support Macmillan during the year that George Harrison, who sadly died of cancer in 2001, would have turned 70 years old.

During August we welcomed some of the Macmillan team into our exhibition, the team came with a very special Macmillan volunteer, Muggy, Macmillan's mascot. Muggy made his way round our exhibition to get some pictures for Macmillan's social media campaign, 'Where's Muggy'. We also supplied Macmillan with some prizes to give away at their charity ball.

During September, Liverpool celebrated Brian Epstein's birthday. On Brian's birthday, we headed to the Epstein Theatre to support their Brain Epstein themed Macmillan Coffee Morning. Macmillan Coffee Mornings are a simple but effective concept for raising money for Macmillan, the idea is simply to hold a coffee morning (where you give people tea, coffee and cakes for a small donation) and all donations made on the morning go to Macmillan.

In October we took it upon ourselves to hold our own Macmillan Coffee Morning to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. The coffee morning was held on Wednesday, 23rd October between 09:00 and 12:00 and it went down so well that we sold out of cakes, tea and coffee before 12:00 raising £278.90 for Macmillan.
