Time Travellers touch down at Spaceport

6th May, 2013

As well as having a pretigious music heritage and history, Britain also hosts a wide array of TV programmes that have had a long standing international following.

A new exhibition showing replica Doctor Who costume characters ranging from the 1970’s up to the present day launched at Spaceport on 4 May.

The Time Travellers exhibition features favourites including life size Daleks, Cybermen, a TARDIS display, a Sontaran and K9 plus prop weapons and an activity area.

Spaceport, based at Seacombe Ferry Terminal in Wirral, hosts the spectacular exhibition throughout the summer, giving sci-fi fans a unique opportunity to experience some of the most iconic sci-fi characters.

Councillor Liam Robinson, Chair of Merseytravel, which owns and operates Spaceport, said: “Spaceport is the ideal home for this exciting new exhibit, which ideally compliments the fascinating factual displays about the Moon, our Solar System and the history of space exploration at Spaceport and we hope that people enjoy this new addition to our attraction.”

New exhibits will be joining the display throughout the duration of the exhibition including a scary Weeping Angel and the very latest version of The Daleks!

Interestingly there is infact a link between Dr Who and The Beatles. A clip of a live performance of The Beatles performing "Ticket to Ride" only survives because of its use in the Dr Who episode of 'The Chase'. The footage originated in a 1965 Top of the Pops episode which no longer exists in the BBC Archives and because the production team for the story sourced the clips from this episode, this makes this the only known surviving footage of that Beatles performance known to exist.
